QUESTION: I
have read that people will make up a 50/50 blend of MC#7 Bore Cleaner
and kroil
and allow it to soak in a bore overnight. My questions are: will this procedure
remove additional carbon and is it safe to leave the bore wet overnight?
ANSWER:
Yes. It is believed that, this blend you mentioned will penetrate and pull
carbon fouling from the pores of the steel. It is safe to leave it soak
overnight. Within 24 hours, or less, it will remove whatever carbon was present.
NOTE: It is necessary to clean the bore first with full strength
MC#7 Bore
Cleaner prior to using the 50/50 overnight blend.
