The Four Essential Gun Cleaning Steps
THE FOUR ESSENTIAL GUN CLEANING STEPS
Shooter’s Choice offers a broad range of firearm maintenance products and bore cleaners, specifically formulated to remove all types of fouling and residue, as well as providing various options for lubrication and protection for your firearm(s).
To achieve maximum results, we recommend the following 4-step guidelines. For those of you who are accustomed to using a C.L.P. (Clean, Lube & Protect product), we recommend using our FP-10TM Lubricant Elite.

CLEAN YOUR BORE OR BARREL
Most rifles and pistols have, what is called, a rifled bore. It is essential to clean and remove fouling build-up from the bore with a bore cleaner using a quality phosphor bronze brush.
TIP #1
If cleaning a shotgun, the powder and plastic wad residue build-up, which is not visible to the naked eye, must be removed from the inside of the barrel and choke tubes. Our original MC#7 BORE CLEANER, MC#7 EXTRA STENGTH BORE CLEANER and XTREME CLEAN BORE CLEANER both work very well. We do, however, highly recommend using our SHOTGUN & CHOKE TUBE CLEANER, because of its unique and powerful formula. It is more effective at melting the plastic wad fouling and much easier and faster to use due to its convenient aerosol package.
Our MC#7 Bore Cleaner, MC#7 Extra Strength Bore Cleaner, MC#7 Extra Strength Bore Cleaner and Shotgun & Choke Tube Cleaner are very effective at cleaning Inline Muzzleloaders and removing the plastic and carbon residue from sabot ammunition.
TIP #2
For stubborn jobs, such as heavy copper build-up, use our COPPER REMOVER after first using the MC#7 BORE CLEANER, XTREME CLEAN BORE CLEANER, MC#7 EXTRA STENGTH BORE CLEANER or AQUA CLEAN BORE CLEANER.
For heavy lead build-up, we recommend using our LEAD REMOVER solvent.

CLEANING THE ACTION
After cleaning the bore, the action needs to be cleaned/degreased. Apply a small amount of bore cleaner of your choice. Using a nylon bristle utility brush, gently scrub the parts to loosen residue from all areas of the action, receiver and trigger assembly.
Spray the action cleaner/degreaser on the action to flush away solvent, fouling, old lubricant and residue. (ALWAYS RE-LUBRICATE AFTER CLEANING/DEGREASING)
TIP #1
Although all of our degreasers perform the same job, you’ll want to use our POLYMER SAFE QUICK SCRUB or our AQUA CLEAN DEGREASER for firearms that have synthetic/polymer stocks, frames, receivers, parts etc.
TIP #2
OurQUICK SCRUB III is very effective but if not used as directed, it could be harmful to painted surfaces, plastics, polymers and wood finishes.
TIP #3
For a non-hazardous, non-flammable, odorless, environmentally friendly alternative, use our AQUA CLEAN FIREARMS ACTION CLEANER/DEGREASER.

LUBRICATING ALL MOVING PARTS
After cleaning/degreasing the action, lubricating the moving parts of the firearm is necessary. FP-10 LUBRICANT ELITE® is best for closer tolerances and most general lubrication needs. It can also be used as an effective C.L.P.
For areas that have wider tolerances or need lubrication to adhere to under heavy demands and/or extreme heat, our ALL WEATHER HIGH-TECH GREASE is highly recommended.
Both lubricants can be used on different parts of the action within the same firearm.

PROTECTING YOUR FIREARMS
To help protect firearms from rust and corrosion, use Rust Prevent on all metallic surfaces including inside the bore or barrel. This superior anti-oxidant, moisture displacing agent is engineered to preserve all gun metals and will ensure a greater chance of keeping the firearm from rust, pitting and corrosion. In addition, it will effectively neutralize the acids from airborne salts, fingerprints and perspiration contact.
Although FP-10 Lubricant will help protect moving parts, Rust Prevent is the recommended product to safeguard all the metal on your firearms.
Shooter’s Choice Rust Prevent can and should be applied over our FP-10 Lubricant Elite®.
