Other Uses for Shooter's Choice Products

VARIETY OF USES FOR SHOOTERS' CHOICE PRODUCTS:
Everything in the Shooter's Choice product line is designed for a specific use, but many of the products also have secondary uses that can be applied if you know their properties.

For instance, Shooter's Choice Blackpowder Gel is specifically formulated to dissolve and suspend the corrosive residue left behind in a barrel when blackpowder is burned. But the Gel is also effective in loosening residue left in rifle or shotgun barrels by the conventional smokeless powder and can also be used to scrub carbon and powder fouling off a revolver's cylinder face, using a stainless steel utility brush.

INDUSTRY FINDS ALL-WEATHER GREASE USEFUL:
The hunting and shooting public has embraced Shooter's Choice All-Weather Gun Grease as one of the leaders in firearms lubricants ever since it was introduced in 1984. Its amazing properties are also well known and utilized within the shooting and receation industry.

Shooter's Choice All-Weather High-Tech Gun Grease is the choice of most paintball and pellet gun manufacturers for use on cocking mechanisms and more and more rollerblade and skateboard manufacturers are using it also. Oil-based lubricants and solvents are harmful to plastic and nylon parts on airguns and roller wheels while the familiar High-Tech Gun Grease is perfectly safe.

BLACKPOWDER GEL FOR SLUG GUNS:
The saboted shotgun slug has revolutionized the market with its uncanny accuracy and ability to retain energy past 100 yards. But the new load brings with it a new fouling problem.

Saboted slugs are generally 1-ounce lead or copper bullets encased in a polyethylene plastic sleeve designed to engage the rifling of the specialty shotgun barrel. There is no lead fouling with the saboted slugs because the slug never touches the bore. But the plastic residue from the sleeve does build up and is difficult to remove with conventional bore cleaners.

Sabot shooters are finding that Shooter's Choice Blackpowder Gel swabbed through the barrel loosens and dissolves the plastic residue better than anything else on the market.

PROFESSIONALS ALSO USE RUST PREVENT:
Shooter's Choice Rust Prevent is a commonly found in the gun cabinets and on the work benches of knowledgable hunters and shooters. Its efficiency and usefulness as a protection against corrosion is well documented.

But Rust Prevent is also a "common sense" addition to dealers' and gunsmiths' every day tools of the trade. With customers handling firearms on a daily basis in a retail environment, perspiration and body oils from hands can lead to surface corrosion on barrels and other metal parts. A quick wipe down with Rust Prevent cleans those metal surfaces after handling and a light follow-up coat protects the metal for the next time it is handled.

In a gunsmith's shop Rust Prevent is often sprayed on the metal surfaces of guns and into the cases in which firearms are shipped back to their owners. A simple application before it leaves the shop protects the firearm in transit, regardless of how long it takes or under what conditions it is stored while en route.

RUST PREVENT HAS OTHER USES:
While Shooter's Choice Rust Prevent is designed specifically for use in gun care that doesn't mean that it can't be very effective for uses outside our industry.

Rust Prevent is the best moisture displacent on the market and the same qualities that make it the first choice for firearms protection also make it popular in the home, garage or shop.

Rust Prevent is often used on garage, garden and shop tools and anything metal around the house that is handled often (and is thus touched by perspiration salts) or that may corrode where it is stored. Fifteen minutes after application (time may vary with temperature and humidity) the solution evaporates but Rust Prevent's unique molecular makeup leaves a fine protective residue that serves as a long term barrier against moisture.

ANOTHER USE FOR BORE SOLVENT:
Camouflage tape is a simple and inexpensive way to mask the glare or general visibility of a shotgun or rifle for turkey, waterfowl or big game hunting. The tape does, however, in time fade or get dirty or tattered and needs to be replaced.

When the tape is removed it typically leaves behind a tacky, dirt-attracting residue that has to be removed before another coating of tape can be applied. That residue is very stubborn and can't be removed by soap or mild detergents.

"People found that the only way to get this residue off was with harsh solvents that might also be harmful to the gun's finish," says firearms expert Joe Ventimiglia, president of Shooter's Choice line of gun care products. "But some shooters found that a rag soaked in our Shooter's Choice bore cleaner will wipe that residue off the gun without harming the surface. In fact the people at Mossy Oak suggest our product by name to remove that film.

"I would suggest that after you've cleaned the surface and wiped it off that you follow with an application of Shooter's Choice Quick Scrub III cleaner-degreaser. That dries within seconds and leaves the surface perfectly suited for another application of tape or for general use."

SHOOTER'S CHOICE ALSO "ANGLER'S CHOICE":
Shooter's Choice's new Quick Scrub III cleaner-degreaser -- one of the first such products on the market with an ozone-safe accelerant -- and Shooter's Choice Rust Prevent are finding as many uses outside the firearms marketplace as they do in it.

For instance fishermen have been using the Quick Scrub aerosol for years to efficiently remove grime from boat and motor surfaces and oil, grease and other residue from fishing reels.

Anglers who fish salt water also use Quick Scrub on their tackle and often follow with a coating of Rust Prevent on all brass and aluminum surfaces of their reels.

PROFESSIONALS FIND OTHER USES FOR SHOOTER'S CHOICE:
Shooter's Choice gun care products are specially formulated for use on firearms, but that doesn't mean that they won't perform well in other venues.

For instance, golf club builders frequently use Shooter's Choice MC7 Bore Cleaner to strip off adhesive debris left behind when a grip is removed. They then spray the same area of the shaft with Quick Scrub III Cleaner/Degreaser to leave a perfectly sanitary surface for the new grip tape used to seat the new grip.

Motorcycle and automotive repair and restoration shops also like both products for cleaning off road grime and frequently use Shooter's Choice FP-10 Lubricant Elite to lubricate high-wear, high-friction areas on the suspension or hinges.

Got a bad stain on a shirt or blouse? Lay a towel behind the fabric and spray Quick Scrub III directly on the stain. You'll be amazed at the results.
